Is it possible to work and study as an International student?
Majority of the students aiming to study overseas have been discouraged from pursuing their international study abroad because they have been fed with erroneous information that they would not be allowed to work while studying.
You can never go wrong with studying abroad. Studying abroad exposes you to different cultures, people, and career opportunities, while making it easy for you to travel internationally. More importantly, studying abroad affords you the opportunity to work and make a living for yourself.
There are a lot you can achieve with a study visa. One of the benefits of study visa is that you do not need to obtain a work permit to work. However, there are lines that must not be crossed. With the study visa, you are allowed to work for the maximum of 20 hours per week. Going beyond 20 hours may endanger the study permit given to such students.
Another benefit that come with the study visa is that you are not restricted to work in a particular field. For instance, if you are studying Arts related course, you may pick up tech-related job as long as you have the capacity to cope and deliver on the job. In addition to the 20 hours’ work permit, students are allowed to work full time during breaks.
However, a student who desire to stay back to work after graduation would be required to apply for a post-study work permit which can allow such student to work without any difficulty for a period of time.
So, if you have been fed with the lie that you cannot work while you study abroad, this will unfed you of that lie. Begin to work on your application. You are the next International Student!
